It's time for the prominent director of Pearl Harbor and Armageddon to show off. Director Michael Bay, in collaboration with Producer Steven Spielberg, has really built a path towards a flawlessly detailed CGI (Computer Graphic Imagery) effects movie on Transformers.

Sam Witwicky, played hilariously amusing by Shia LaBeouf of Disturbia, has never thought that a jerk like him could have a renowned grandfather. He is simply making out money by selling his grandfather’s properties on eBay. Then, one of them, the glasses, turns out to be a location map of Allspark –a cube that has been chased by both clans of Cybertron, Autobots and Decepticons.

When the Decepticons attack a US military base in Qatar, Sam buys his first car, which turns out to be Autobot Bumblebee. He defends Sam from the Decepticon Barricade, before the other Autobots arrive in Earth. While top-secret agency Sector 7 and US Ministry of Defense is trying to handle the Decepticons attack, Sam and the Autobots are planning their way to save the world.

Bay made a good decision when he chose the charismatic, good-looking new comer LaBeouf to play Sam. I think everybody would likely say Amen when I utter that statement. The acting is sharp and the slapsticks succeed.

I have nothing negative to say on commenting the effects. It is by far the most realistic effects that I have ever seen in the history of big screen movies. The CGI effects blend beautifully with real life sets. You should really watch it by yourself. Really, no words best describe.

As a comic-based film, Transformers also includes such a noble moral messages –“No sacrifice, no victory”.

However, this film has its flaw. Aside from the too Hollywood romance, patriotism, and slapsticks, there are too many interference from too much sides that makes the characters of the robots are not appealing. In addition, I might rate the storyline 5 out of 10 for being too flat and monotonous.

Nevertheless, Transformers’ CGI effects really eliminate, or even slay, my sense of contemplating flaws. As I said to my friends, “They (the flaws) are forgiven by the astonishing effects that grasp my overall attention.”

Looking for satisfactory to spend Rp15.000-Rp100.000 on movie? Watch Transformers!
